Initiatives
Canfield & Tack wins
2007 Wealth of Health Award
Co-sponsored by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Rochester
Region and the Rochester Business Journal, the Wealth of Health
Awards recognize local companies that have implemented programs
or policies to encourage healthful practices among workers
and promote employee wellness.
Honorees are judged according to how creatively they devise
programs, worker participation in wellness initiatives and
on how successful the programs have been in achieving results.
Canfield & Tack was recognized for our “Strive for Five”
and “Biggest Loser” programs. “Strive for Five” was launched
to help create and strengthen healthy lifestyle habits, including
increased activity and healthy eating. Thirty-six percent
of our employees participated in Strive for Five. Participants
logged more than 4 million steps, ate 550 servings of vegetables,
and drank more than 1,600 gallons of water. The “Biggest Loser”
program included participation of over ¼ of our employees
and resulted in a total of 207lbs being lost collectively.
In addition to these programs, the company offers healthy
menus at all company-sponsored corporate events, filtered
water coolers throughout the plant, and healthier choices
in the vending machines, such as fresh salads, fruit, yogurt
and nuts.
The company plans to expand its programs in the coming year,
offering cholesterol screening and nutrition education.
